Review of 48 Hrs. (1982) by Paul B — 12 May 2011
This film was just a flat textbook typical 80's cop flick. From the boisterous police chief yelling his head off to the chase scenes to funky background music, this movie was just layered with cop flick stereotypes.
I guess since it was '82 the roles weren't as overdone so it was far more entertaining than it would be to viewers today. Decade trends aside, originality was not a key element here. The production value was on par and the sets and costumes all worked, the roles were just too cardboard-cutout though, as was the plot.
The main performers did a decent enough job, but the supporting cast had some pretty weak components. Overall a mildly entertaining film with no special twists.
