Review of 48 Hrs. (1982) by Lorenzo S — 21 Nov 2011
Eddie Murphy has made some of the bestest most hilarious fall-off-your-chair-dying-laughing moves of all time. 48 hrs fits this billing. Now keep in mind parents, this is not a movie you want to watch with kids around. As with most Murphy flicks that aren't animated, his language gets quite animated. The humor and banter between Murphy and Nolte in this movie is very aggressive.
Take yourself back in time 30 years, the fight scenes are really entertaining with those classic "punch-sound" effects. This is Eddie Murphy's breakout film debut from the 80s, when he was getting hot on TV with Saturday Night Live.
If you're an Eddie Murphy fan like me, this is the must-see introduction to his greatest hits film pack which would have to include Trading Places, Coming to America (one of my top-five fav movies of ALL-TIME!), the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, Harlem Nights, Boomerang, the Nutty Professor/Klumps franchise, and Dreamgirls.
I recommend it. So put the kids to bed. Melt the butter. Get your JiffyPop a poppin. And enjoy this classic, vulgar Murphy/Nolte action-laugher.
