47 Ronin film... In short, I'd say... Masterful, Epic, Beautiful Japanese Film... ruined by an American Film Director.
Terrible out-of-filming voice overing, wasted brilliant actors, a brilliant storyline that was cut up, character development that was cut down, dialogue which was overly obvious in bodily gestures and dry conversations that it was obviously destroyed by a script with underlined "important bit" 's.
On the upside, the parts that couldn't have been destroyed by bad writing were masterful - epic fight scenes, special effects/CGI, locations, research.
Evidence of all this is that the actors who weren't overly focussed on and who didn't really have a script were the most touching and sincere.
Keanu Reeves is a good actor, but it's like having a Japanese Film Star as the lead actor in a middle-britain film.
4/10.
