Review of 47 Ronin (2013) by Mikael F — 16 May 2014

This movie is WAY better than what the critics rated it. I will say that there are some confusing plot points. The first and obvious one (to me) is whether Kai really was half-demon or not. He definitely exhibited those powers toward the end and he definitely could have defeated that giant samurai.

Also what was the deal with that giant samurai. At the end the other ronin were hesitant to fight him and a bomb just blew him away. Strange end to him. Also why didn't Lord Kira just kill Oishi or starve him to death.

The action and fighting sequences were done well. I enjoyed the temple sequence where Oishi was told not to draw his sword no matter what and the end where Kai defeated the witch. It had some misses but overall it was better than average.
