It honestly turned out better than it was supposed to be.

Two sisters vacationing in Mexico become trapped in a shark cage on the ocean floor. As their oxygen starts to run out and with great white sharks circling them, the sisters must find a way to get to the surface alive.

"47 Meters Down" was not only not a terrible film, but it was decent. I had some fun with it as it included some intense moments, cool shots, and interesting ideas. Even though it's not a great film by any means, it's a fun B-movie flick that's not a complete waste of an hour and 20 minutes (take that how you will).

One thing that this film pulled off was the premise. It's a pretty terrifying idea to be in a shark cage and suddenly dropped down 47 meters. I think they did a decent job of relaying that fear that many would have in this situation and it was a lot of fun. There were some intense moments and even though they stretched past their limitations a bit, it was still fun.

For the most part, this movie didn't look terrible. There were some shots of the sharks and it was obviously some cheap CGI, but there were a couple of really cool shots. It's a challenge to film underwater but there was one really memorable shot in here that really stuck with me. The movie doesn't look amazing but it certainly isn't terrible. Oddly, that seems to be the reoccurring theme with what I'm saying.

The first 20 minutes of this film were completely boring, ridiculous, cheesy, and lackluster. If it weren't for the lackluster writing, who knows where this could've gone. They tried to set up the characters and create this situation but it was honestly just bad writing. The soundtrack paired with that was this generic pop music and it's honestly enough to dissuade casual movie watchers to turn this film off.

While this certainly isn't a great film, it's an okay B-grade flick to put on when you're board. Take that for what you will but I was able to take some enjoyment from this film.
