Review of 4:44 Last Day on Earth (2012) by Eduardo S — 04 Oct 2012
The bottom line is.. there have been better films made about humanity's last day on earth. One of my personal favorites is a little Canadian picture called "Last Night". Abel Ferrara's vision is questionable, why for instance.
. are people working on their last day of existence? Why is traffic still thick in the streets? And how is it that the meltdown of the ozone layer (which should be a gradual thing) can cause the instantaneous end to all life at precisely 4:44am? Willem Dafoe and Shanyn Leigh aren't a very compelling duo, Leigh's character lazes around the apartment creating "art" (randomly splashing paint on a blank canvas) while Dafoe skypes with his ex wife and orders take out.
