Review of 44 Inch Chest (2009) by Patrick H — 26 Jan 2010
An odd one though with some great dialogue and acting from the actors and their motley crew of characters. A broken heart. A wife and her young lovers actions leaves the "over-loving" husband, Colin Diamond (Ray Winstone), in absolute pieces, an emotionaly shattered shell, and his friends gather around to pick up the pieces and try to set things right, all by their own fashion, by their own sense of what is right and proper. This all leads to some excellent and well written mono- and dialogues as they hold a mock trial over the faith of the cheating wife and her lover.
Don't expect to much in dept explenations about who the characters are, why they are friends and how come they would treat any one like they do, that's all, more or less, left up to us and quite well so. It's all, more or less, focused on the "crime" and the emotions of the husband and his friends supportive opinions on the matter.
I enjoyed it and I think that I now have to check out "Sexy Beast" by the same pair of writers (Louis Mellis and David Scinto) for some more of this entertaining dialogue and interesting characters.
