Straightforward telling of Jackie Robinson's first season on the Brooklyn Dodgers is an emotional and inspirational journey. The proceedings are "Hollywoodized" of course, but extremely satisfying.
Knowledge of baseball or the historical period are not necessary but so enhance ones enjoyment of the film.
