Review of 42 (2013) by Kinho M — 10 Feb 2014
Going into this movie not liking baseball and not knowing very much about Jackie Robinson, besides the fact he was the first black player in baseball, I had no preconceived notions on how this movie should play out.
I was pleasantly surprised. This movie was very good. A very good story about the struggle this one player had against all of baseball in the 40's and America in general. The story is well put together, though I'm sure there were a lot of Hollywood liberties taken in order to stretch out the drama.
Though I'm sure in real life there was enough true drama, had they stuck to the story 100%. It's also nice to know that Jackie Robinson's widow, Rachel Robinson, was involved in the production of the film.
All in all, this movie delivers a good story. And strong acting.
