Review of 42 (2013) by Blair K — 09 Sep 2014
Good emotional movie from beginning to end! newcomer chadwick boseman is terrific as jackie robinson. he gives his all in the perfomance. would certainly watch him in other movies. harrison food does a good job as the the brooklyn dodgers branch manager.
you feel for them both in different ways~ jackie robinson facing a daily struggle on and off the field due to the color of his skin and branch hickey played by ford for putting himself out there going to bat for robinson and the struggles that came from that both internal and those around him.
my only problem with the movie was ryan merriman was underused. have always liked him and to see him go from a few years ago starring in final destination 3 to now a bit player in a recent movie is disheartening.
shows that hollywood doesnt know what to do with him but hey I guess on his part he is still working so be it :( same goes for lucas black. his part is barely there when he has such potential! as for the actress that plays jackie robinson's wife she is ok a bit bland.
overrall if you like biopics then check this movie out :).
