Review of 42 (2013) by Franzhcritic — 28 Nov 2013
Unless you grew up listening, watching, or playing baseball, you might find this movie banal and pedantic. In some cases, the story of Jackie Robinson and his struggles are perhaps too much for a PG-13 movie to consume all in one time.
The performances have plenty of character development, and I am impressed with newcomer Chadwick Boseman. But the movie does not have any sort of gritty action that adds to the intense experience Robinson went through during the late 40's.
Too natural, too clean, yet for most baseball fans, a enjoyable two hours, and plenty good use of twenty bucks.
