Review of 42 (2013) by J P — 21 Sep 2013
42 -The Jackie Robinson story - is very uplifting and inspiring; it boasts great acting especially from Harrison Ford in his empathetic role as Jackie's manager Branch Rickey.
It would indeed be a better world with more Branchs around with the confidence in blacks as being capable as opposed to those bigots who would rather see blacks as outcasts and 'untouchable'. As Branch extended his vision, what with Jackie's advent, that Jackie is the first but not the last black to enter the arena of baseball and 'if white players don't shape up there would be many more coming to take over the sport'.
Its insightful cinema which resonates as a social commentary in the interest of Black development on and off the baseball fields of America.
