Review of 42 (2013) by Hobie H — 13 Jun 2014
A beautiful story told upon the real-life legend of Jackie Robinson, the first African American baseball player to make it to the major league. Chadwick Boseman, who plays Robinson in the flick, portrays every mannerism, trait, and characteristic of Jackie Robinson flawlessly.
In a beautiful story of something that's been facts set in stone and the record books for years, 42 will sweep you off your feet and steal home plate with you right next to the Phillie's manager [Chapman] yelling racial slurs at you, while through trial and frustration, you can watch Jackie fight back through anger and tears with lack of physical aggression but on the field of dreams, biting his lip and reminding everyone what it's like to fight for something and possess passion, one swing and slide at a time.
This will not only remind you of WHAT you love, but WHY you love it, and HOW you need to fight for it. A phenomenal and passionate tale that you'll want to watch again and again, like a crazy beautiful dream that's come to be reality right in front of your eyes.
