Brian Helgeland directed this movie with a lot of respect and sincerity, but also with a great deal of realism. The movie feels like your basic sports biopic and, for the most part, it is. What elevates this movie is the passion of Mr.
Helgeland, as well as standout work by Chadwick Boseman. He really did an amazing job all around.
