Review of 42 (2013) by Kyle C — 26 Jul 2015
Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball and the story of his hardship is brought to the big screen. Now one thing I can say is that for the most part, Hollywood is very good at producing and bringing baseball movies to life and this one is no exception.
The story seems awfully short for a 2 hour movie though, it seems like there was something not there but I don't know the whole story so I don't know. The other thing was that there were a few to many uses of the "N" word, now in a movie like this I expected a couple of them, but for as many as there were I'm surprised that this got a PG-13 rating.
The actor playing Jackie Robinson is a newcomer I'm not quite familiar with, not sure if he's been in anything else that I would have seen or if this is his first role but he did do a very good job.
But the star of this for me and what totally makes this movie worth watching is Harrison Ford. He is simply fantastic as the General Manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers and just puts in a great performance.
RECOMMENDED for baseball fans and for Harrison Ford's performance alone.
