Review of 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (2007) by Daren F — 02 Sep 2008
How do you judge a film about reality? How do you judge a film that simply presents how life occurs? Well I shall try. 4 Months is brutally honest with no tension relieved in the editing or mise en scene nothing is here to lessen the blow of the film, and good for it.
The concept of one shot one scene is here and it just makes the power of the film stronger, when the action is sometimes not seen we just know what is happening by the little dialogue in parts and by the characters reactions and body language.
The performances are amazing and because of that and because these are some of the most realistic characters put on screen in a long time the film is taken to a different level. This is simply one of the best films of 2007 and deserves that Palm d'Or and once again shows how honesty is the most powerful way to make a film, you just can't fight what happens on screen because there is no other way for it to be.
