As always, Communism is grim. This was a very sad and graphic movie about a young Romanian girl, Gabita, who wants to get an abortion. However, 1987 Romania, it is neither safe nor legal to obtain one.
The movie follows the struggle of her friend, Otilia, throughout the day in dealing with the unexpected problems that arise. It was a little to mundane and depressing to be a fully enjoyable movie, although it did have it's strong points.
