Review of 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (2007) by Ashley T — 02 Mar 2009
I really wanted to like this movie, I really did. Besides all the acclaim going for it, I noticed early on the similarities between this film and another recent one I loved, Wendy and Lucy. Both films follow a woman, down on her luck, though we don't get to know much about either of them.
Wendy and Lucy did this beautifully. This film, sadly, did not. It was too long, the main character was boring, her roommate who put her into all this trouble in the first place, was an idiot, and the guy they sought out to try and help them was selfish and greedy.
Even minor characters, particularly the two hotel clerks, were rude. I don't necessary need a character to be likeable, but it helps if they are at least sympathetic. Without that much, how can I relate to the story in any way?
