Review of 35 Shots of Rum (2009) by Matthew L — 22 Nov 2010
35 Shots of Rum is an interesting film.
It's French, so that should have been a clue that the action of the film would have been more psychological. The majority of the film's action concerns a middle-aged man, his college-aged daughter, and two other tenants of their apartment complex who have, seemingly, become extended parts of the father and daughter's family. The plot concerns their individual discontent and what they do to improve their situations.
The performances are subtle and wonderful, and the story is moving and thought-provoking. Good film.
