I'm generally not too big on westerns but this was AMAZING! The set design, the simple story with complex characters, the music, the acting, the action, everything was outstanding.
I didn't think Russell Crowe would be a good cowboy, nor did I really think Bale would be either but both of them gave frighteningly real performances.
Russell Crowe as a villain that you actually like despite the fact that he's an awful awful man, and Christian Bale as a poor rancher that has precious little left to lose... Who would have seen this coming?
