Review of 3:10 to Yuma (2007) by Jc E — 06 May 2013
The thrill in this movie is watching two mega stars engage with one another and did it so utterly brilliantly. Christian Bale played Dan Evans, a crippled war veteran trying to put food on the table for his family under hostile conditions.
Towards the end, he knew he couldn't succeed in bringing Russell Crowe the villain named Ben Wade to the train at 3:10 to Yuma. But Dan did succeed in in tugging at heart strings of Russell Crowe with stories of hardship and illness in the family and having a hospitable and beautiful wife who fed Ben well.
In the final act, Ben and Dan became a team to fulfill Dan's mission so that he will be a hero in the eyes of his eldest son William Evans, played brilliantly by Logan Lerman. It is heartwarming to see Russell Crowe showing compassion on the crippled Christian Bale.
Perhaps things would have been different if Ben Wade didn't read the bible from cover to cover that his mother gave him when he was 8 years old at the railway station.
