Review of 3:10 to Yuma (2007) by Zain H — 17 Jun 2013
Hollywood seems to have more success remaking Westerns more than anything else, 2007's 3:10 To Yuma proves that. Thanks to the great performances of Bale and Crowe, this remake is actually quite tolerable.
Now I didn't really think the original was all that special and the same goes for here. The story is decent, but isn't spectacular. Some nicely done western elements are mixed in, but falls in to the category of typical western at times.
The writing is well done and the dialogue is very great, especially between Bale and Crowe. James Mangold directs this film and does a pretty good job at making every scene worth while even if the story really doesn't make it sound to special.
Thanks to Bale, Crowe, and Mangold, the 2007 3:10 to Yuma is successful and a nicely done western to watch.
