Review of 3:10 to Yuma (1957) by Julian B — 07 Aug 2012
While there have been many exceptional westerns made after Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven, this is by far the best one. James Mangold has brought new life to a once fledgling genre with this exceptionally great movie.
One of the greatest points of this movie is the acting. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale's chemistry together is probably the greatest I've seen this year, as each play their characters with great depth and emotion. Though one actor's performance outshined all others in the form of up and comer Ben Foster's character Charlie Prince, who really defined the evil and cruelty of this movie.
This is by far one of the best movies of the year as well as one of the best westerns ever put on screen. After seeing this I will make a point to see the 1957 original made just four years after the story was first printed. If you want a movie with great acting, chemistry, and action look no further then 3:10 to Yuma.
