Review of 31 (2016) by Deniz M — 31 Aug 2016
Just saw Rob Zombie's film 31 at a Fathom events advanced screening. It was pretty typical for a Rob Zombie movie, same as ALL of his movies. His style is to use shaky camera movements, lots of blood, and dialogue that the most horrible pirate would not speak to his worst enemy. Oh and don't forget about the already over used classic rock songs that he litters throughout his movies. To put it quite simply Rob Zombie doesn't make horror movies. Rob Zombie doesn't make dramas or thrillers. Rob Zombie makes filth, and not particularly gory filth either, just filth. At times the dialogue in "31" is lyrical and poetic and it betrays you into thinking you are watching a good film for a moment. Then the filth rears its ugly head again and you wonder why you are still watching.
Save your money horror fans and rent this one or wait until it's in the bargain bin at Walmart. However if you like Rob Zombie's style then you may like this movie.
