Review of 300: Rise of an Empire (2014) by Sean D — 24 Jul 2014

They should have really titled this "300: On a Boat" because that's essentially what it was. However, this lacked a lot of what made the first film good. Surprisingly enough, it wasn't really that stylized, the violence was more gratuitous, and the sex was unnecessary.

"300" is one of those films that will work once, but cannot be successfully done again. This prequel/side story/sequel really lacked the theatrics in its presentation, even though it tried to copy from its predecessor.
