Review of 300: Rise of an Empire (2014) by Calvin C — 28 Jul 2014
If the first 300 was style over substance, then this prequel/sequel is style over substance times 100. This is nothing more than an R-rated video game with CGI blood splattered directly at us for 3D effect. Every 2 seconds, everything is slowed down to show how cool the fighting is. Within the first five minutes, it already gets old. At least Eva Green brings some zest to the screen as a badass naval commander out for vengeance.
