Review of 300: Rise of an Empire (2014) by Tyler R — 11 Nov 2014
Outside of Eva Green, there is almost no reason to see this prequel/sequel. It isn't particularly bad, it just isn't on the same level as the original, which wasn't anything to write home about.
300: Rise of an Empire shows the rise of Xerxes and the aftermath of the events of 300. The same slow motion effects and shirtless men are on display, with not much to differentiate itself from its predecessor other than Eva Green and naval battles.
What was once an interesting color pallette now just feels like a copy. And as I said, the only saving grace is Eva Green, who literally puts it all out there in an over the top performance. Other than that, there's not much else to say about this unnecessary prequel/sequel.
