Review of 300 (2007) by Claire L — 03 Jun 2014
This film is violent and campy beyond belief, it has an air of nostalgia, as if it wants you to think, "boy, remember the good old days when diplomats got summarily executed and women and cripples were put in their place at the bottom of society by manly manly men?" Gerard Butler ruins almost every film he's in, how he maintains roles as a leading man will baffle me until the day I die.
It does not bother me when artistic license is taken for the betterment of the medium but it seems that Frank Miller might be genuinely unaware that Herodotus is not actually a good source to base your "historical" yarn on.
