Review of 30 Days of Night (2007) by Brian W — 16 Oct 2010
Best to watch this movie in a darkened room without any distractions, keys to being frightened are having a sound system with decent base and to be totally focused on the movie. The build up is slow and I think the director tries to give the watcher a real feeling of hopelessness throughout, which he is pretty successful in doing.
It's a different take on the typical vampire story, they certainly aren't sexy or elegant here. Left me wanting to know more. It's more Resident Evil than Interview With A Vampire.
Gore factor is quite high too, some pretty gruesome scenes, so best to have your gif around to squeeze.
I may have to check out the graphic novel it came from now.
