Review of 30 Days of Night (2007) by Clayton T — 13 Dec 2011
Having never read the graphic novel but rather all the negative critic reviews, I was actually surprised to find that I liked this fresh take on vampires. A little too gory for my tastes overall, particularly during the last act, but I did enjoy the whole Dawn of the Dead-survival aspect of the movie.
The bad guys were also much more creepy than the fake CGI vampire-zombies of I Am Legend. Heck, even Josh Hartnett, who maintains his blandness even in here, is at the very least tolerable as the lead.
I wasn't fully behind the ending hence the deducted star but even so it still doesn't ruin the overall experience.
