Review of 30 Days of Night (2007) by Trystan C — 23 Jul 2012
One of the few comic book adaptations to come out where I'm not familiar with the book itself, "30 Days of Night" blew my mind. For those of you still angry at the Blade movies for ruining vampires in cinema or who are stilling nursing their hangover from the new Resident Evil should definitely go see this movie, particularly with Halloween right around the corner.
At first all I could think was, "What a genius concept, a whole month of vampires rampaging freely??" And oh did they rampage. This may be one of the goriest movies I've ever seen, yet it never goes to the point where it seems gratuitous, the violence escalating with the characters' desperation.
With great acting by Josh Hartnett and Co. and one of the most intriguing and heroic endings I've seen in a movie,"30 Days of Night" has essentially done for vampire movies what "28 Days Later" did for zombie movies. Go see it!
