Review of 30 Days of Night (2007) by James M — 11 May 2011
30 Days Of Night is about a community of people who live in the small town of Barrow, Alaska. They experience a winter solstice of sorts each year where they succumb to complete darkness for 30 days. The film revolves around a group of vampires who take advantage of the town's lack of sunlight, to embark on a vicious killing spree.
Although the film succumbs to a goofy ending which very nearly ruined the film, there's no denying that this film is edgy, well acted and beautifully filmed. 30 Days Of Night is up there with Daybreakers and Let The Right One In as raising the bar on vampire-themed films, for its originality, focus and delivery.
