Review of 3 Days to Kill (2014) by Tuomas R — 26 Sep 2014
Oh boy how I do hate any Kevin Costner movies that isn't a baseball movie. I wouldn't have even watched this movie if it didn't just happen to pop up on Netflix on a night that I was truly bored. But wait, there is a surprise waiting when you watch 3 Days to Kill. The surprise is that the movie doesn't totally suck, it just isn't very good. That is something right. I know I know explanation is needed.
The problem with evaluating this movie is that it is too separate movies. The first movie is this movie about a man who has given his life to his job at expense f marriage and his role as a father. He is full of regrets and is starting to realize that you can't always make up for lost time. It is in many ways a character stud and this balance between dealing with the time you have left on this earth in comparison to all of the time that you wasted. I would say this part of the movie really works.
The other half of the movie is some stupid CIA agent movie with a lot of crappy gunfights, predictable plot twists and half baked car chases. It is to say the least awful. They try to make up for this garbage CIA/Assassin drama by having Amber Heard as eye candy, which of course only makes it worse and less believe. Hint to the director, a spy is suppose to blend into their surroundings not be the focus of attention because she is so beautiful.
When the movie is over and the credits start rolling your realize something. This movie really wasn't very good, but somewhere buried beneath a crappy script and a poor interpretation of the script by the director, there was a good movie in there.
