Review of 2LDK (2003) by Jun H — 26 Sep 2004
I came across this movie at Blockbuster, read the back, and knew I had to watch it. Two jealous roommates battle it out using power tools and electrocution, among many other things.
The movie starts great - we are introduced to the two characters - Nozomi and Lana. They have both auditioned for the same part in a film, and both are interested in the same guy. I love how they'd speak aloud to one another and then think horrid things while they were smiling. Their inside comments were just great. I laughed out loud when Nozomi thought, "I'd like to kill this bitch." It came out of nowhere.
The anger builds slowly, from inside their heads to a confrontation about the rules, then to the breaking point. Each girl slowly lost it and they commenced trying to kill each other. It was just great. I even flinched a couple of times, like when Lana bashed Nozomi in the head with a trophy.
I think I wanted Nozomi to win because Lana wasn't my type of person, but this isn't a movie about winners. So I was happy with the ending and disappointed at the same time.
This film was shot in 8 days and both girls had the flu and fevers over 100 degrees, so as they say, they really looked "gone." I commend them for working under those conditions.
I would like to own this movie..
