Review of 28 Weeks Later (2007) by Richard C — 24 Oct 2013
Despite its predecessor's success, 28 Weeks Later is gruesomely disappointing. The characters are developed but then slaughtered, the intensity of the violence at moments is needless, and the political implications of the film are a bit too blatant.
The movie had great potential and some suspenseful moments, but ultimately sacrificed smart plot development for what felt like endless gore. 28 Days Later might stand alone as a horror success, while 28 Weeks Later should have taken 28 more months to properly develop.
Rent it if you're really into the 28 Days Later franchise, but be prepared for disappointment.
