Review of 28 Days Later (2002) by Lewis E — 31 Jul 2013
Zombie/infection horror films are not usually my cup of tea but the extraordinary camera work nicely combined with the amateur film style footage sets '28 Days later' apart from the rest. The soundtrack was interesting as well, simple melodies counteracting perfectly with the bleak setting and on screen chaos. I also liked that they used fast moving zombies which ramped up the thrill meter. I understand that it was primarily about people getting infected rather than killed but I did feel slightly cheated in the horror department. It only really showed physical struggles with the infected, rarely was a lot of gore was involved. Still, strong character development and an entertaining turn of events when they reach the army base makes for a good viewing.
P.S Personally I reckon the scene after the credits would have made a better ending than the one before but I'll leave that one up to you.
