Review of 28 Days Later (2002) by J K — 10 Feb 2014
Danny Boyle at his best. Brendan Gleeson and Cillian Murphy are great. You know if an apocalypse themed film is good if you care about whether the characters make it or not - and you want these guys to.
There are just enough British-humour gags to lighten what is, ostensibly, a dark film exploring the reasons to survive among other, equally depressing themes. Christopher Eccleston is just too good at revealing how deeply flawed the human condition can be and how little there is between our moral boundaries in current civilization and how the mask slips when things turn horribly wrong.
