Review of 27 Dresses (2008) by Allison B — 01 Jun 2010
At first, the character Jane was someone who was predictable and was focused on pleasing other people. She could never let someone down. She loved helping to plan weddings, she always said "yes" to whoever asked her. This led her to be in 27 weddings. Her boss said, "that he loved her because he knew she would never say no." This statement made something click in her brain and changed her whole attitude in life. She then became a person who focused on her wants and it changed her own life.
I think when Jane decided to sabotage her sisters engagement party, there was an honest reaction from the people that were close to her in life. Her friend told her is was a low thing to do. And then her sister didn't even want to talk to her.
I think throughout every scene that Jane's sister is in it defines who she is and her character teaches a lesson, that is one of the messages throughout this film. Her sister started out right away by lying to Jane's boss. She did this because she likes him and wanted him to like her back. The lesson here is don't change yourself for someone else. Start off with the truth, because if you don't, eventually in the end you will need to.
