Review of 27 Dresses (2008) by Natasha . — 16 Jul 2010
Love it. Katherine Heigl and James Marsden are perfection in this film. The scene where they both sing Elton John's 'Bennie and the Jets,' got me totally obsessed his music.
While the film is a typical romance it's never cheesy (or at least, very rarely). Jane is a woman who loves weddings, and who has been maid of honour twenty-seven times to her absolute delight. Kevin is a man who writes the weddings section of Jane's favourite paper, but who no longer believes in marriage after being cruelly jilted by his ex-fiance. Of course, these two seemingly starkly different people clash with each other immediately.
The ending is completely predictable but Jane's obsession with weddings, her issues with her selfish sister and the accurately depicted hopelessness of unrequited love sets this romantic comedy apart from others.
