Review of 27 Dresses (2008) by Manny C — 30 Dec 2010
You wanna see Katherine Heigl's talents, see Grey's Anatomy or Knocked Up. You won't find much of it here. 27 Dresses is a swill-inducing compendium of cliches. Sure, screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the screenplay for The Devil Wears Prada, but there's not an ounce of that movie's stinging wit and smarts in this mess.
She and director Anne Fletcher (Step Up) wants us to believe the beautiful Heigl is just a plain jane who pines for her boss and collects all twenty-seven of her briddesmaid dresses. Not even the charms of James Marsden (so great in Hairspray and Enchanted) can save this crap.
