Review of 25th Hour (2002) by Janet M — 16 Jan 2012
I'm not a Spike Lee fan, I think he works best when he's adapting someone else's material. So it's safe to say 25th Hour is my favourite Lee so far. Norton's rant in the bathroom against the New Yorker stereotypes is brilliant and the final twenty minutes or so, of what life could be, is stunning.
The script and the performance from Norton was criminally ignored from the academy. As Clay Davis would say: Shieeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!
