Review of 24 Hour Party People (2002) by Stefán Birgir S — 21 Jun 2010
Easily one of the best British film coming from one of Britain's greatest directors in my opinion although that may just be my weird love for Michael Winterbottom. I love the shifting style of the entire film and obviously the soundtrack is pretty bloody spectacular.
Acting wise it all seems very sound with a lot of great roles of what would soon be big names such as John Simm and Paddy Considine. Coogan is pretty fun as the Narrator Tony Wilson, who is one of the most fun storytellers in modern film.
The only problem obviously is the film's historical accuracy, although that could be put against any biographical film and as this film says "When you have to pick between the truth and the legend, print the legend" and I think that sums up this film well enough, a fun fast-paced film about music.
Would recommend it to anyone.
