Review of 24 Hour Party People (2002) by Ryan G — 22 Aug 2012
Tony Wilson's Manchester Records had a unique, anarchic philosophy of being 'all about the music' that allowed them to be commercially successful. As a screenplay that philsophy plays out in a disjointed narrative that, whilst poignant in parts, ultimately leaves the viewer with a level of confusion that I feel could have been avoided.
There are interesting moments throughout, via breaking the fourth wall, however I couldn't help but be left with a sense that this film COULD have been much more than it was.
