Review of 22 Jump Street (2014) by Nicholasbert — 26 Sep 2014
I got tricked: I watched the trailer for it a long time ago, and for some reason I got 22 Jump Street confused with something else, obviously, and I remembered it was supposed to be good. So I started watching it without preoccupations. But, after about twenty seconds, I realised it wasn't what I thought it would be.
This film is just the sum of everything I hate and the only thing it lacked for it to be a 0 was sci-fi thrown in.
I will not comment on the performances of these two actors, who actually seemed to have taken a good turn (Tatum in Side Effects and Hill in The Wolf of Wall Street), but then retreated to their usual roles.
One thing I will say, though, about the comedy. Now, I don't understand how this kind of moronic and brainless gags can actually make somebody laugh. A movie for your eyes only. Keep your brain at home, you won't need it at all - and be sure you have enough pop corn to pass the time while you're forced to hear decades-old lines.
And the critics? Any critic who voted this more than 50 is a sell-out, obviously. I wonder how much of the budget was dedicated to that.
