Review of 22 Jump Street (2014) by Deandra L — 30 Nov 2014
My favourite self-deprecating series is back with its second installment. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill return in the sequel to the reboot of the '80s TV series.
These films are amazing simply for the way they poke fun of themselves. They blatantly call out that they know exactly what they are doing (producing an unnecessary sequel that will have more explosions than the last), and how it's just what people want and that using the exact same formula time and again works.
Which is what is done. The plot is identical to the first one, except that they're in college this time around.
My cheeks hurt from laughing so hard by the end of it, and Tatum and Hill were perfection in their reprised roles. It is quite honestly a perfect comedy, as well as a summery action flick. If you're looking for a little of everything all rolled into two hours of pure perfection, you've found it.
