Review of 21 Jump Street (2012) by Cody F — 11 Jun 2014

I have never seen an episode of the 1987-1991 crime drama television series this movie is based on, even though it made Johnny Depp (one of my biggest heroes) a star! But, 21 JUMP STREET is hilarious, action-packed, and also has a pinch of heart.

Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller from CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS, this action comedy features awesome performances by Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube. Sure, there's Peter DeLuise in an uncredited cameo and Holly Robinson Peete in a credited cameo reprising their roles as their characters from the TV show, but it is JD himself that gave me and the audience a BIG surprise as Tom Hanson (also sadly uncredited) in an undercover disguise as a hippie motorcyclist.

He's says some funny shit at first, but tragically dies afterwards with his partner played by DeLuise....which drove me nuts! However, this movie definetly worked as an action comedy, instead of a crime drama, and proves that you don't need to be a fan of the TV series to enjoy this film!!!!
