Review of 21 Jump Street (2012) by James W — 01 Nov 2013
21 Jump Street packs a powerful comedy punch. Loads of references, many gags and Ice Cube's foul mouthed Captain Dickson had me in tears of laughter. Channing Tatum steals the show thanks to his performance full of outrageous behaviour and funny stereotyping.
I'm not a big fan of Jonah Hill, after watching Superbad & The Sitter I was not impressed, but he's redeemed himself and shines! Considering he co-wrote the script you'd think he'd be the funniest character, but it's Channing Tatum who steals the limelight overall.
What made me smile is the fact Ellie Kemper is in this, after watching her in Bridesmaids she strikes me as a funny woman, she plays a science teacher who is incapable of hiding her attraction to Channing Tatum's character.
The gags are excellent and the laughs are non stop. There is a highway chase where Chenko & Schmidt are being chased by bikers, that scene is unmissable. I guarantee you'll laugh at this comedy, everything about it is entertaining.
