Review of 21 Jump Street (2012) by Ian B — 02 Mar 2014
It's a universal fact that movies based on old TV shows are nearly unwatchable, so imagine my surprise when 21 Jump Street turned out to be one of my favourite comedies of the year. I never thought I'd say these words, but.
..Channing Tatum doesn't suck in this. In fact he and Jonah Hill make one of the best on-screen buddy teams in a long time. The main thing that makes this movie work is that everyone's in on the joke this is a pointless remake, and to just have fun with it.
Countless laugh-out-loud moments, a tight script and surprisingly great chemistry between the two leads turn what should've been a disaster into one of the funniest, most enjoyable comedies in years.
