Review of 21 Jump Street (2012) by Bobby N — 23 Mar 2014
Whilst it's fairly predictable when looking at the falling out of friendships and the making up parts, 21 Jump Street is so wildly funny and brilliant when it comes to stereotyping the predictable parts are completely overshadowed, especially when Tatum and Hill are in full on funny mode.
The story is all about two undercover cops who infiltrate a high school to bring down a drug supplier, it's no intricate masterpiece of storytelling but for an action comedy that type of plot works, meaning the two leads can fail and succeed whilst scrapping in between in hilarious ways.
The 5 step drug scene where Tatum and Hill succumb to the HFS side effects is so funny whilst being silly at the same time, and Ice Cube steals the scene as foul mouthed Captain Dickson who literally shouts every line but not to headache levels, more like rib tickling levels of laughter.
With a good mix of action 21 Jump Street is one of the best action comedies, up there with Get Smart, The Other Guys, Rush Hour and The Heat.
