Review of 21 Jump Street (2012) by Dg J — 13 Jun 2014
In 2005, Morton Schmidt (Jonah Hill), is rejected by his prospective prom date and then mocked by underachieving jock Greg Jenko (Channing Tatum) who cannot go to the prom because of his low grade point average.
Seven years later, they meet each other again at the MCPD (Metropolitan City Police Department) academy and become fast friends due to Schmidt helping Jenko study and Jenko motivating Schmidt through physical activity.
They graduate together as partners and expect epic careers, but are assigned to the dull job of park patrol. They catch a break when they arrest Domingo (DeRay Davis), the leader of the drug dealing 'One Percenters' gang.
The department is forced to release Domingo as Jenko forgot the wording of the Miranda rights. Schmidt and Jenko are reassigned to a revived specialty division on 21 Jump Street. They are introduced to Captain Dickson (Ice Cube), who explains the division specializes in infiltrating high schools.
Schmidt and Jenko are assigned to stop a new synthetic drug called H.F.S (Holy Fucking Shit), which is being sold in a local high school.
